“WRESTLING W/ FLAVOUR”

  • THE BRIEF

    To answer a branding-based University brief I designed assets for a TV show where sumo wrestlers compete in a cooking competition.

  • THE CHALLENGES

    The challenging part of this project was finding the perfect balance between culture, drama & comedy. Through my research into colour, type & overall style I centred all my design choices around portraying Japanese culture in a respectful way.

  • THE OUTCOME

    The assets I designed for this TV show included educational props, modern advertisements & a hypothetical show trailer.

  • THE LESSON

    This project not only taught me the importance of respectfully incorporating a culture into a brand, but it also allowed me to experiment with photography, direction and motion for the first time.

  • THE FUN

    My favourite part of this project was the comedic element. This was seen in not only the shows concept, but also the playful photography process.
